The Weekend Illusion

One thing I often had trouble with as someone that can manage their time entirely on their own is that I would often not feel much time pressure throughout the week since I could always do things on the weekend.
Whilst this flexibility is occasionally really useful to take on opportunities I might otherwise not be able to, it often just lead me be less efficient and more slow than I could’ve been, then by necessity having to work on the weekend, and then justifying not giving it my (long-term sustainable) all in the next week “since I didn’t have a break”. And so the cycle continues…

The Evening Illusion

The same thing also sometimes happens on a smaller scale, especially when in [[Modes - A Manual for Myself#drift-mode|Drift Mode]], where I end up doing lots of work in the evening and then feel justified in starting the day later.

Solution

Make sure I have things planned on the weekend that I look forward to, that way I’ll but in more effort throughout the week, and potentially even shift from [[Modes - A Manual for Myself#drift-mode|Drift Mode]] to [[Modes - A Manual for Myself#current-mode|Current Mode]], making me more productive in total despite fewer hours that were technically spent working.
